Course 2: I Ching – Chinese Astrological Divination

Special Summer School Program

January 19 & 20, 2013

The I Ching is an Oracle, a resource of wisdom that can be consulted to ask any question or engage in a theme that requires, insight or answers relevant to an area of concern

This system of I Ching Divination that will be taught is also called the ”King Wens Oracle” System or ”3 Coin Method”. It contrasts with the more traditional use of the I Ching, called the Scholar’s method, which casts an I Ching hexagram and the interpretation read directly from a text.

This Divination method is unique, in that it translates the 6 lines of a Hexagram into the five elements of Chinese Philosophy, and is then interpreted according to the configuration of elements that are revealed.  Also considered is the strength and the meaning of the element in relationship to the self, the theme in question, and time of asking the question.

Much additional information can also be illuminated surrounding the circumstances and situation of the question and person’s life as a person’s Four Pillars of Destiny Chinese Astrology can be woven into the information.  What are the underlying rhythms, processes and changes that are giving rise to the theme in question? This often is illuminated by the divinatory reading.

For example a health question may be asked, but the I Ching may also answer what is the underlying condition or challenge that gives rise to health problem. What also may be the appropriate way to deal with this may also be answered?

The I Ching can answer personal questions or questions relating to external social, political, economic circumstances

The extensive theoretical background to the I Ching including the 5 elements in this course also deepens the understanding of Feng Shui, Four Pillars of Destiny Chinese Astrology and Traditional Chinese Medicine
